That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime – Living Life As A Slime!
The first season of this anime was a big hit and much popular with followers and earned rave reviews from experts for the visuals, story narration, and creativity.
For people who’re not much aware of That Time, I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, the anime adapts a popular light novel series written by Fuse and artist MitzVah. The book series was published between 2013 and 2016. After a successful run, Kodansha ordered a manga adaptation.
It is one of those Isekai anime series where the central character dies and discovers himself in a completely new, fantastic world. But, here comes the twist in That Time, I Got Reincarnated As A Slime—the character takes the form of a slime in his new life and then tries to protect his new-found world.
If you’re an Isekai fan, this is a relatively excellent idea to put that twist on the traditional genre. While Satoru isn’t that much of a fabulous hero as a man, as a slime, Rimuru is very charming. Let’s dig deep into the plot of the series!
Season 1: Plot Details
As we discussed earlier, the story revolves around the rebirth of the main character of the anime. Satoru Mikami is like every other corporate working in Tokyo. His life is a monotonous series of going to the office and returning home. He doesn’t even have a girlfriend. However, at one point in his life, a random mugger stabbed him, and he dies while he was hanging out with a co-worker.
This is not the end! In fact, it’s just the beginning. While being unconscious, Satoru follows a set of instructions, and he woke up without his body parts.
Soon, he realized that he’s transformed into slime. After a few moments, he realized that he is in a totally different world now.
After a quick examination of his surroundings, he understands that many things have changed in his NEW life. First of all, he learns that he now can swallow things and absorb their shape and skills.
Secondly, there’s a giant, deadly storm dragon named Veldora. He was locked up for hundreds of years for trying to destroy a village.
Feeling pity for Veldora, Satoru vows to cut loose the dragon into the world in his new body as a slime. Veldora thanks him and renamed him Rimuru Tempest to provide him divine protection.
