Considering the vast popularity, the production team decided to have the sixth season before the beginning of season 5. Looking at the rave reviews and fanbase, TV Land renewed the show.
The program was supposed to shift to Paramount Network for the sixth season before the committee reversed the decision, and the series continued on its original network.
With the green-lit for season 7, Younger has become the longest-running TV show of TV Land. Now that the followers know about the renewal, everyone’s wondering where the production has reached? Read the following segment to get every detail about the seventh (and probably final) season.
Younger Season 7: Production Updates!
“Season after season, Younger has continued to reach new heights and build an incredibly loyal fan base.” – Keith Cox (President, Development and Production, TV Land, and Paramount Network)
Following the tradition of releasing the new season of Younger in the month of June since the fourth season, the fans were expecting to see season seven in June 2020.
As it happened with many tv series like Jack Ryan and Queen Of The South, team Younger also suffered a set back in production, and they have to postpone the shooting schedule.
According to EW, the team began shooting in March 2020 in New York City. But, due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the global shutdowns of television production houses forced the production team to pause the filming. Luckily, the cast and crew returned to resume the work in mid-October 2020, for the new season.

While a new season comes in June each year since 2017, considering the closedowns that slowed production, it’s very doubtful that the makers announce the release date for the seventh season in 2020. Hopefully, we hear the good news in 2021. In an interview with Insider, Hilary Duff reported that season 7 might not start shooting until March 2021. “The latest date I’ve heard was March 2021 to start shooting again, so at least we have a date, and they’re still planning on it,” said Hilary Duff.

What To Expect From Younger Season 7?
While the entire cast and crew have not revealed anything about the upcoming season and what will happen next, the producer, Darren Star, has given a clue at what the story for season 7 to introduce.
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, he said that it seemed like there were many stories to tell this season, and the following season will be something offbeat. They sort of set the table for what that is at the end of this season.
According to creator Darren Star, season seven will weave the current global pandemic into the plot of the next season. He said that the writers had scripted some episodes before COVID-19. The upcoming season is set to begin where the sixth season ends, but they consider adding it into the plot as the season proceeds.
With Charles’s proposal to Liza still up in the air, and Josh settled to tell Liza that he’s not over her, we still don’t know who Liza will finally end up with. Will it be her ex-boss and current boyfriend, Charles, since they relate on some levels, including aims, emotions, and life stages? Or possibly her first love following her shift to New York City, Josh, who still connected to her after she’d explained her real-life to him? We’re hoping to find these answers in the upcoming season!
Younger Season 7: Cast
With the information that the previous season has already set the table for what will reveal in the following season, that can only indicate that the characters will make their appearance to tie up loose ends in the seventh season. The official Instagram page of Younger confirms the return of the famous lead characters.
If you’re one of Josh’s fans and worried about his return, we have good news for you! Nico Tortorella, who has performed the heartthrob role since the first season, isn’t leaving the show and has already declared his return to the series.
Wrapping Up
Over time, the show has developed into a multiplatform franchise, including after-show Getting Younger, the Younger Uncovered podcast, and two booklets published by Simon and Schuster.
The fans are eagerly waiting for the seventh season as it will decide the fate of Liza and the series itself. Let’s hope that we don’t have to wait much to enjoy the show!
